Univ.-Prof. Dr. Marcel Zentner

Marcel Zentner is full Professor of Psychology at the University of Innsbruck. He began his professional career as a postdoc at Harvard University, followed by a tenure as assistant professor and, from 2001, as a SNSF-professor at the University of Geneva. In 2003 he was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley and obtained his Habilitation in 2004. In 2008 he moved to the University of York, where he served on the psychology faculty until his appointment as chair for personality psychology and assessment at the University of Innsbruck in 2013.                    

Marcel Zentner's main research interests are in the area of personality development, psychological assessment, emotion and music. His research in the former areas has been published in the premier journals of psychology such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Psychological Science. His work on the origins of human musicality was published in the most prestigious science journals including Nature and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Zentner is also the author of the Handbook of Temperament, coedited with R. Shiner, and published by Guilford Press.

ZentnerĀ“s research has been featured by BBC ONE, National Public Radio, The Wall Street Journal, among others, and has received funding though the ESRC, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Jacobs Foundation, and Google.
